Criminal charges against a judge of the Constitutional Court. Besnik Imeraj, the judge who resigned month ago might be considered as the first 'victim' of the vetting process in Albania.
The Independent Qualification Committee has requested on Tuesday, criminal charges against him.
"The Independent Qualification Committee notifies that, based on the Article 281 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, has referred to the General Prosecutor's Office all the documentation resulting from the administrative investigation during the re-evaluation process of the former judge of the Constitutional Court, Besnik Imeraj," says this committee.
Earlier in January, Imeraj gave the resignation from the court and this move was interpreted as a decision to avoid the Vetting process, with the reason of personal factors, while he was among the first to be investigated.
