Women's Day, Free Public Transportation for Ladies in Tirana

The chance to use free of charge the public transportation was given on Thursday to the women and girls of Albanian capital, Tirana. This idea was the brainchild of Municipality of Tirana as a token of appreciation for their commitment and sacrifices in the city's everyday's life.
"This is a just a small gesture which aims to express our deepest gratitude to the women that play a key role in the city's life. Likewise this special day for the women should serve as an appeal for every man urging him to show a major appreciation of their efforts," said Mayor Erion Veliaj, referring to this special gift on Women's Day.
Women's Day was also intertwined with the municipality's trees planting initiative. Mayor Veliaj along with a group of women part of the Municipal Council, municipality's administration and Civil Society representatives planted some 500 trees in the Lake Park area.
