Latvia Supports the Opening of Negotiations for Albania

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, in the framework of a regional tour in the Baltic countries, held an official visit to Latvia on Wednesday with his counterpart, Edgar Rinkevich.
Ministers paid special attention to the European integration process, the transformational impact of enlargement policies in the Balkan region, including its security.
During his visit, minister Bushati informed his counterpart with the reform process in Albania focusing on the judicial reform and the measures undertaken by the Albanian Government in meeting the five key priorities in the integration process, focusing on the opening of accession negotiations.
In the mean time Minister Rinkevic confirmed Latvian support for a positive decision to open negotiations for Albania's EU membership this year.
During his stay there, Minister Bushati held a meeting with Mayor Saeima of Latvia, Inara Murniece, with the chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and also paid a visit to the NATO and FP military base in Adazi, where the second contingent of FARSH is serving, with an EOD platoon of 18 soldiers.
