Public Health in Albania is urging people to make sure they are up-to-date with the Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine and to be aware of the symptoms of measles due to an increase in confirmed cases over the last few weeks.
The warning comes after 95 cases of measles were reported.
Doctor Arjan Harxhi, stated that only at the weekend, six new cases were presented at the University Hospital Center in capital (QSUT).
According to him, measles cases are fatal only when the patient has other complications. The two main symptoms of measles are the red spots on the skin and the temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
"Six new cases of measles have been reported in QSUT only at the weekend. These people are not in serious condition, but have shown some complications, so they have been hospitalized. They are isolated, and are followed according to the course of each one with the treatments as appropriate," said Harxhi.
A hearing session is Parliament is expected to be developed on Tuesday for this issue.
