Estonia Supports Albania Integration in the EU

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, conducted a working visit to Estonia on Wednesday, where he held a meeting with his counterpart, Sven Mikser.
The main topic of the discussion was the co-operation between the two countries, the process of European integration of Albania and cooperation in dealing with security challenges.
Minister Bushati informed his counterpart with the concrete steps undertaken by the Albanian government for the reforms and to fulfill the key priorities for the opening of accession negotiations.
Meanwhile, from his side, minister Mikser, praising the progress made, reaffirmed Estonia's support for the opening of Albania's accession negotiations with the EU as soon as possible, following the European Commission's recommendation.
He said that Estonia is ready to offer her concrete expertise in the negotiation process.
During the visit to Estonia, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania and the Estonian School of Diplomacy.
During his visit, minister Bushati held another meeting with the members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on European Affairs during which he acquainted the Estonian MPs with Albania's progress in the European integration process and expectations in this context. They praised the progress in addressing key priorities, and shared the view on the importance of Enlargement not only for developing aspirant countries but also for strengthening European security in general.
