Ismail Kadare, Candidate for 'EBRD 2018' Prize

The internationally renowned writer Ismail Kadare is among 6 finalists in the race for the coveted literature award ‘EBRD 2018’. This prize will be awarded for the first time this year by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Kadare competes with his novel “The Traitors Niche”, translated in English by John Hodgson and published by ‘Penguin’ Editions.
The Albanian writer competes with famous writers like Boris Akunin, Dasa Drndic, Burham Sonmez and Alawiya Sobh. Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, winner of Nobel Prize for Literature, is also part of the competitors list.
The winner will be announced on April 10 and will receive a sum of EUR 20.000 that will be equally divided between the writer and the translator.
