The 105th anniversary of the State Police was held this Saturday in the city of Lezha with a ceremony honoring police uniforms.
Present in the ceremony, Prime Minister, Edi Rama, was focused in his speech on challenges that faces nowadays the blue uniforms.
But after evaluating police officers work, Rama for the first time accepted the fact that some police directors are corrupted and linked to crime.
"Within 4 years, the State Police, according to statistics from the EU surveys and not in my opinion, was transformed in the most trusted institution in the country.
This was underlined in a EU survey for 2015 and 2016 and I am convinced that the same evaluation will be even for 2017. This does not mean that the state police have been intact from corruption to high levels and that police leaders have not been involved in criminal activities with drug smugglers," declared Rama.
