Prime Minister Edi Rama met with French Minister of Interior Gerard Collomb during his official visit to Albania on Friday. Asylum-seeking and the measures that need to be taken to prevent this phenomenon were among the highlights of this meeting. Premier Rama stressed that asylum-seeking should never be seen by the Albanian citizens as the right path toward European working market.
"The asylum-seeking is not only an illicit path but at the same time a blind-alley. The only way through which the Albanian citizens may reach the European job market is the one that goes through reforms and accession negotiations with EU. The Albanian government remains totally committed to prevent this phenomenon's escalation. We must accelerate the opening of accession negotiations with EU instead of just waiting for the other do so for us," said PM Rama.
He also thanked the French Minister of Interior Collomb for the continuous support given by his country to Albania in various important sectors while urging for a further enhancement of two countries bilateral relations.
