The vetting law obstruction and the candidacies from Civic Society absence are two main reasons that delayed the constitution of High Council of Prosecution. The Socialist MP, Ulsi Manja, at the same time the Legal Issues, Public Administration and Human Rights Committee chair, underlined this fact during a meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group on Monday.
The opening of procedures for the election of a temporary Attorney General has been already announced by the Laws Committee. This step was taken on view of the fact that the High Council of Prosecution, the body that may elect sitting Attorney Generals successor has not yet been constituted. On the other side no prolongation of his 5-years mandate is foreseen by the constitutional amendments, declared Manja.
He also stated that Parliaments involvement in this process was based on a constitutional obligation.
