The Municipality of Tirana and the volunteers' network to allocate aid to the families in need in areas affected by floods generated due to the heavy rains of the last days. Mayor Erion Veliaj, and young volunteers distributed food and clothing to the inhabitants of a suburban area of Tirana.
"Food and clothing distribution to the families in need is part of an assistance plan drafted by the municipality to help the citizens cope with this difficult situation. I would like to thank not only the volunteers who have been in every corner of Tirana, but also the Tirana businessmen for their unimaginable generosity. I believe that a city, no matter how big it is, no matter how hard it is, may prevail and successfully cope with such disasters where people are united and cooperate with each other," said Veliaj.
Referring to the problems with water supply during the last two days due to the floods the mayor said that this issue had been resolved and Bovilla water plant functions normally.
"The fact that the Bovilla plant is wide open was the origin of this problem caused by the heavy rains and massive flows of the surrounding creeks. However, the problem was quickly resolved and situation returned to normality," said Veliaj.
