Very important documents of the Ottoman period and the Codices, including the one of Berat, which constitutes an extraordinary historical fortune, will be accessible to the public from 18 to 22 December in the framework of the “Open Archive Week”.

During these days, visitors will also be able to see the work processes carried out in the Central State Archive, from the conservation, processing, microfilming, digitization and restoration of archive documents sectors.

The opening of Ottoman documents is expected to shed more light on the past, given that Albania's history is closely related to them.

These documents are of vital importance not only for the history but also for the documentation of properties and land-patent registers from Vlora, Elbasan, Tirana, Durrës, Kavaja, Berat and other provinces.

The Open Archive Week will raise the curtains for the first time this year in the framework of the Gjergj Kastrioti Scanderbeg’s Year and will be repeated every year at the General Directorate of Archives.
