Albanian politics remains divided even on Liberation Day. The left wing forces commemorate November 29 as the country’s liberation day while the right wing forces commemorate this day on November 28.
President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Speaker Gramoz Ruçi paid homage on Wednesday in the Nation’s Martyrs cemetery. The highest ranks officials also met with veterans and relatives of the nation’s martyrs that attended the ceremony.
Meantime opposition’s representatives paid homage in the same place one day ago. The right wing claim that November 29 was chosen by the communist regime as liberation day thus it’s a fabrication of the country’s history.
