The Democrat leader, Lulzim Basha accuses the Minister of Interior, Lulzim Basha of police information leakage. Through a public statement on Friday he stressed that Xhafaj followed Prime Minister Edi Rama orders preventing the arrest of three officers that could unveil his direct involvement in drugs smuggling.
"The Minister of Interior Xhafaj is the man to be blamed for the police information leakage which gave the opportunity to the wanted officers to flee. He did so acting on Premier Rama orders aiming to prevent his incrimination due to the close ties with drugs smuggling. This is a clear indicator that the Ministry of Interior and State Police have always acted as crime's cupola," said Basha.
Likewise he underlined that this grave episode evidenced the urgent need for vetting in State Police ranks.
"The Ministry of Interior and the entire State Police should become subject to a deep reformation, but such thing can never be done as long as Premier Rama sits in that chair. This cancer whose metastases have captured the state should be immediately cleansed. Tahiri's arrest without further delays must serve as the preface of a large scale cleansing action of the politics from the crime," Basha said.
