The chairman of Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) Petrit Vasili labels as a robbery the imminent replacement of palm trees in Tirana - Durres highway forewarned by the Municipality of Tirana. In a public declaration on Saturday he stressed that the EUR 2.5 Million needed for the pine trees purchase will come one more time from the citizens’ taxes.

“Prime Minister Edi Rama should be hold directly accountable for this robbery on daylight. Huge sums of money were spent to buy and plant the palm trees that will now be removed. The experts, media representatives, civic society and politicians denounced this clear abuse with public funds but PM Rama defended this process with his ridicule passion.

Now he demands some EUR 2.5 Million more from the citizens to replace the palm trees with pines. Nothing seems to be stopping this shameless individual from doing everything he can to steal from the citizens’ pockets,” said Vasili.
