Environmentalist Associations and Civic Society organized a protest in Tirana on Saturday saying ‘No’ to the construction of several Hydro-Power Plants in Valbona’s National Park. This protest, organized under the motto ‘Don’t touch my Valbona’ follows the Administrative Court verdict issued on November 3 which paved the way to the construction of three HPP along the Valbona River.

The protesters’ walked from the Independence Monument up to the Premier Edi Rama office carrying banners with slogans like ‘Don’t touch Valbona’, ‘Keep your hands away from Valbona River’ and ‘No to HPP in Valbona’.

“HPP construction is causing multiple social conflicts. Some 34 people have been arrested so far due to these conflicts, one man died while another one was injured. This project is a clear attempted assassination by the government toward the citizens. Valbona National Park should be preserved not destroyed through similar projects,” declared the Civic Society activist Ervin Goci.
