The health conditions of 60 children asphyxiated due to a gas leak in 'Rifat Manjani' school in Shupenza, Bulqiza are improving. The Peshkopia hospital medical staff reported on Saturday that only 9 children are still receiving medical treatment while the rest has already returned home.
The children were urgently hospitalized one day ago with asphyxiation symptoms caused by the toxic gas that entered the classrooms due to a leakage of the new heating system. Preliminary inquiry indicated that the new heating system had become operative without a prior verification of the safety valves.
The police inquiry aimed to shed light on the motives of this near miss tragedy bringing the responsible to the justice is still ongoing.
