The Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) chairwoman Monika Kryemadhi blames the government for the absence of a proper economic plan to fight poverty. Speaking in a roundtable focused on 2018 budget and fiscal package organized by SMI she declared that no step to narrow the gap between rich and poor people in Albania is foreseen in 2018 draft-budget.
“Instead of undertaking the necessary economic steps to narrow the gap between rich and poor people in Albania the government policies are totally focused on promoting the oligarchs and clientage. No economic policies that would stimulate employment, domestic production and Albanian exports have been included in 2018 draft-budget. The only certitude so far is the fact that taxes will be increased for 99% of Albanians which are part of the middle class or poor strata while the taxes for the businesses belonging to 1% of the oligarchs will be decreased,” said Kryemadhi.
