The Albanian capital, Tirana was chosen as an example of successful cooperation between the local government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in financing environment-friendly projects that enable climate change effects mitigation. This high appreciation for Tirana was expressed during a conference on climacteric changes organized by the United Nations (UN) in Bonn, Germany.

Tirana’s Mayor, Erion Veliaj, who attended this conference, expressed the deepest satisfaction for this token of appreciation of the voluminous work done by the municipality during the last two years to invest in environment-friendly projects.

“I am highly enthusiastic by the fact that Tirana was chosen by EBRD as a success story about how it has transformed city administration with a more positive, environmentally friendly approach and bicycles-dedicated lanes,” said the mayor.

He also exploited this opportunity to present a project related to the water-supply for Tirana citizens.

“Recently we finalized an agreement with EBRD for a loan that will soon enable the investments duplication in the water-supply system solving a highly problematic situation for Tirana citizens,” informed Veliaj.
