Remand in prison was issued on Sunday by the Court of Serious Crimes as security measure for the Court of Appeal judge, Shkelqim Miri. He was detained a few days ago on grounds of corruption finalizing a police raid coded "A 2nd murder".
Prosecution reported that judge Miri had been under inquiry since 6 months due to the suspicions that he had changed the charge against a defendant from dual murder to serious injury. A conspicuous sum of ALL 30 Million seized by the police during judge Miri house inspection, which according to the prosecution had been given to him in exchange for this verdict, confirmed these suspicions.
Judge Miri will now face trial charged of active corruption and abuse of office.
