Some 19 new schools construction along with a series of major investments will be enabled by the Municipality of Tirana budget 2018, the highest in the city’s history. This promise was made by Mayor Erion Veliaj during a hearing with the citizens on Friday focused on draft-budget 2017.
The mayor stated that draft-budget 2018 foresees a 15% increase compared to the previous one while being three times higher than budget of 2014.
“The fact that draft-budget 2018 registers an 15% increase compared to the previous one makes it the highest budget of the municipality of Tirana since its early days. This increase is the direct result of qualitative work done by the municipality’s staff in taxes and fees collection but mostly on the fact that we ended once and forever the fiscal evasion in Tirana,” said the mayor.
Meantime referring to municipality projects he declared that new schools construction will remain a priority during the next two years. The hearings and consultations with the citizens on budget 2018 will also continue in every municipal unit giving them a chance to introduce us with their priority. This way of doing will increase the municipality’s work efficiency in the interest of the citizens,” said Veliaj.
