The recent political developments in Albanian political stage were the highlights of a behind closed doors meeting between the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) chairwoman Monika Kryemadhi and the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, Johanness Hahn this Friday. Kryemadhi and SMI rapresentatives expressed their complaints on the crime level in Albania and the reaction of the Government on some sensitive issues as the accuses against former Socialist Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri and drugs trafficking in the country.
Albania’s progress toward European integration was also among the topics of discussion during this meeting, also attended by the SMI parliamentary group chair, Petrit Vasili and EU Ambassador in Albania, Romana Vlahutin.
One day ago Commissioner Hahn declared that EU expects the arrest of so-called ‘Big Fishes’ of the organized crime in Albania, backing up a similar declaration made earlier by the US Ambassador, Donald Lu.
