Judge Shkelqim Miri Detained for Corruption

Tirana's Court of Appeal judge Shkelqim Miri was detained last night by order of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes for corruption.
He was detained after police found in his house a sum of ALL 300 millions.
Earlier Judge Miri, a former-member of the High Council of Justice (HCJ), changed the charge for the defendant Gentian Doda accused of murder transforming it in serious injury. The latest, who was recently extradited from the United States, faces trial for a dual murder.
Prosecutors suspect that a sum of EUR 20.000, also found in his house was paid to judge Miri in exchange for his decision. Doda managed to be released from prison due to the change of the charge against him while judge Miri will now be hold accountable for this verdict.
