The renowned writer, Kasem Trebeshina, one of the most prominent figures of the Albanian literature, passed away in Turkey at the age of 91. His coffin arrived in Albania one day ago and was buried in the capital's cemetery.
Trebeshina published his first novels during the 50's. He became quickly known for his political antagonism to the communist regime and after that for his literary dissidence. In spite of the participation since minor age in the anti-fascist war he never agreed with the former-communist ruler Enver Hoxha monist policy and the direction given to the arts and literature openly objecting this way of doing. His attitude led to the arrest in 1953 while a number of unpublished works continued to exist only as manuscripts.
His letter to Hoxha, published during the 1990's after the fall of the communist regime, strongly denounced the monist system established in Albania after World War II.
Trebeshina was the author of a numerous manuscripts, critical articles, essays, novels, drama and comic plays. "The Season of Season's" remains his most representative work among those published so far.
