Some 49 Socialist MPs submitted a request to the Constitutional Court demanding the abrogation of Central Elections Commission decision related to Mallakastra’s mayor Agron Kapllani mandate. This fact was announced by the Socialist MP, Klotilda Bushka in a press release issued on Tuesday.
“CEC decided that an incriminated individual should sit in Mallakastra’s mayor chair only because he comes from the Democratic Party (DP) ranks. This was a clearly illicit decision, based only on the CEC chairman Klement Zguri ties with the opposition. The Democrat leader, Lulzim Basha talks all the time about the incriminated individuals while seeming to forget the Democrat mayor that he defended through CEC. Majority is determined to enable the rule of law in Albania. That’s why we decided to address to the Constitutional Court asking for this issue consideration,’ declared Bushka.
Socialist Party (SP) claims that Mayor Kapllanaj’s mandate is a clear violation of the decriminalization law due to a previous conviction with 2-year imprisonment.
