The former team-leader of the Albanian National Team, Lorik Cana spoke about his recent commitments and the reasons that forced him to say ‘Farewell’ to football during a recent interview. Cana also confessed the personal challenge faced due to his choice to play in Euro 2016 finals despite being advised not do so by the doctors.

“I had several years of heart rhythm disorders, arrhythmia. Some serious tests proved that my conditions were much more serious that it seemed. This news was highly shocking for me on view of the fact that it came in the same day when KAS decision on the match in Belgrade was announced. I received a good and a bad news at the same time. I met with various doctors who agreed on the idea that I should say farewell to football. Meantime my wife was pregnant. Doctors finally granted me one more year to play in Euro 2016 finals while continuously being submitted to different tests,” said Cana.

Referring to his future projects Cana said that he would look forward to a position as club’s director.

“I am not the kind of player that foresees his departure from the field thus plans to become a coach. Anyhow, I am willing to take over the club’s director position next year,” said the Albanian footballer.
