The plan for a national scale raid focused on abuses with drinking water will be presented on Monday by Prime Minister Edi Rama during a meeting with the mayors.
Media sources report that this raid will be divided in two stages.
The first stage will give the opportunity to every abuser with drinking water through illicit connections to the pipelines to self-discipline himself by signing a regular contract with the Water Supply Company. The 2nd phase, which is expected to begin next year, will include a door to door verification and penal prosecution for every abuser.
The state's institutions and businesses will be the inspectors' initial target. Then it will be the turn of the families to face the law if not in possession of a regular contract, reports the media.
The entire raid will be coordinated by the local authorities while the central government will closely monitor this process.
