The Guardia di Finanzia commander Giorgo Toschi declared during the presentation of annual report on cannabis cultivation that the drugs smuggling from Albania to Italy increased in 2017. According to Toschi some 33 tons of narcotics have been seized so far during this year in the Italian coasts.
In his speech in the framework of an Albanian - Italian joint conference organized on Friday in Tirana he stressed that this quantity is 163% higher compared to one year ago.
“Some 33 tons of cannabis sativa seized so far during 2017 indicate a drastic increase of the drugs smuggling from Albania to Italy compared to only 12 tons of narcotics seized one year ago,” declared Toschi.
Tosch also underlined that there has been a decrease of the surfaces used for cannabis cultivation while adding that Guardia di Finanzia has completed over 129 hours of air-monitoring from May to October.
