Dignifying presentation but insufficient to come out with at least one point from Belgrade’s stadium. These few words sums up the Albanian team performance last night in the Europe League fourth round group qualifiers match against Partisan of Belgrade. As forewarned by coach Ilir Daja his team tried to play a attacking game and even managed to possess the ball more than the adversary, but all this was not sufficient because the Serbians where in top-shape and managed to win with 2-0 score.
The first half was totally equilibrated while things changed at 39th minute when a shot realized by Zoran Tosic left no room for reaction by goalkeeper Shehi.
During the 2nd half Daja’s boys made several attempts to score in the adversary’s gate but failed to successfully finalize their actions. On contrary they contributed in the situation worsening by losing a hazardous assist given by Shehi to Lilaj giving the opportunity to Serbians to seal the match’s fate with Tawamba.
This defeat places Scanderbeg in the last place of group ‘B’ with only 2 points while the qualification seems highly difficult despite the fact that Korça team still has some chances mathematically speaking.
