The Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi held a meeting with environment inspectors on Wednesday focusing on the environmental situation in Albania. He blamed their inactivity for the country’s current environmental situation and the high level of pollution.

“Your omission from duty has generated a problematic environmental situation in Albania. Country’s polluters have names; anyhow you have failed to denounce them through your reports,” said Klosi, addressing to the inspectors.

He emphasized that it’s time for a radical change, adding that work-groups operating in the field should be set-up for a close monitoring of the situation.

“Work-groups will be immediately set-up conducting a thorough inspection on the field. A detailed report on the environmental pollution in Albania should be presented within 20 days,” said the minister.

Another innovation forewarned by Klosi was the online fines system that will soon become operative, zeroing chances of corruption through fines imposed and removed the next day by the same inspectors.
