The opposition’s leader Lulzim Basha denounces the taxes increase destructive effects on country’s economy. Referring to the World Bank (WB) ‘Doing Business 2017” assessment in a public statement on Wednesday he declared that the Valued Added Tax (VAT) reimbursement is being procrastinated by the government.

“Albania goes down by 7 places in WB “Doing Business 2017” assessment. Taxes and fiscal burden increase is the main factor behind this negative assessment. The WB assessment states that 37.3% of the citizens’ incomes go for taxes and contributions while the government keeps procrastinating VAT reimbursement.

Neighboring countries rank in better positions compared to Albania which ranks at 65th place. Maceedonia ranks at 11th place, Kosovo ranks at 40th place, Montenegro ranks at 42th place, everyone in much better position compared to Albania,” declared Basha.

He stressed that the message given through the WB assessment is more than clear.

“The foreign investors see Albania as the last choice while considering a future investment in the Balkans,” declared the opposition’s leader.
