'Martyr' drama, written by Marius von Mayenburg, was brought on the National Theater stage by the Djakova theatrical troop. This play, which was presented to the Albanian public under the direction of Fatos Berisha, brought on stage a talented cast of actors composed like Besfort Berberi, Vlera Pylla, Edmond Hafizademi, Bujar Mehmeti, Muradije Muriqi, Arbies Konomi, Ylber Mehmeti, Yllka Lota, Myrvete Kurtishi and Ahmet Bakija.
“Martyr” narrates the life of young Benjamin Sinclair who embraces the Christian fundamentalism becoming motive of deep inquietudes for the powerless adults around him. This drama unfolds in a grotesque way the universal fear from ‘The others’ as a sub-conscientious constant of the presumably tolerant societies.
Director Fatos Berisha expressed the confidence that this play will serve as promoter of a constructive debate within the society.
“Me and Djakova Theater artistic director Edi Kastrati decided together to work with this text that intrigues and provokes the public while promoting a debate. In my opinion this is exactly what’s needed for the theater and the public nowadays,” said Fatos Berisha.
Earlier “Martyr” drama was presented in Skopje International Festival 2017.
