The confrontation between the Himara inhabitants and the Rapid Intervention forces related to the houses demolition by National Inspectorate for Territory’s Protection (NITP) escalates. One protester was detained by the police while trying to set fire to a gas tank aiming to prevent the demolitions continuation.

Some 80 houses are expected to be demolished in Himara paving the way to the requalification of the city’s promenade. This project has been strongly objected by the inhabitants that have been repeatedly involved in confrontations with the police forces.

The NITP demolition action is currently going on with the support of some 163 police forces that arrived in Himara from the Vlora, Delvina and Saranda police stations.
