The Democratic Party (DP) and Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) representatives abandoned the Conference of Chairmen on Tuesday during the discussion of the new draft-budget 2018.
The opposition’s MPs boycott was preceded by debates between the Democrat parliamentary group chair, Edmond Spaho and the Socialist parliamentary group chair, Taulant Balla.

Spaho interrupted the draft-budget of 2018 presentation by the Minister of Finances Arben Ahmetaj expressing the concern about the abnormal situation currently experienced by the country due to former-Minister of Interior Sajmir Tahiri issue.

“We can’t pretend that the situation is totally normal. The government has fallen, thus the resignation is the only step to be taken due to the ties with international drugs smuggling. We will not become part of the façade by attending this meeting,” declared Spaho.

Meantime the Socialist group chair, Balla asked for the discussions to be focused on the draft-budget while adding that it’s up to the citizens to judge the opposition’s decision to boycott its discussion.

“You may boycott the draft-budget discussion but the Albanians will be the one to judge your action,” said Balla, addressing to the opposition’s MPs.
