Meta: Constitutional Court, Eternal Guardian of Constitution

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta attended on Friday a conference organized in Tirana on occasion of Constitutional Court 25th anniversary. In his greeting speech the Head of State labeled the Constitutional Court as a democratic model of the human rights observation and institution guided by the powers’ division positive practice.

“The early days of the Constitutional Court were challenging in a state that aimed to be consolidated, because in a democracy powers should operate separately from each other and in a balanced form. Constitutional Court stands on top of the justice system and as such its mission is to serve as the eternal guardian of country’s constitution,” declared President Meta.

He also emphasized the fact that Constitutional Court has played a crucial role in the consolidation of the rule of law.

“This institution decision-making has not only resolved conflicts related to the institutions functioning but has also contributed in setting up a democratic culture of power’s exercising in accordance to the European standards,” declared the Head of State.
