The opposition's leader, Lulzim Basha defined a Mafioso solidarity the latest declaration of Minister of Interior Fatmir Xhafaj in relation to his predecessor Sajmir Tahiri alleged ties with international drugs smuggling. Through a press statement on Friday he asked for Xhafaj immediate resignation due to the conflict of interest.
"Fatmir Xhafaj is in a clear conflict of interest, thus can't stay a minute longer in the Minister of Interior office. He is being used as lever by Prime Minister Edi Rama for the concealment of his pact with Tahiri. Opposition is in possession of reliable facts that will soon be made public which prove that PM Rama and Minister of Interior, Xhafaj have received conspicuous bribes and campaign sponsorships by the organized crime. In exchange they placed at the disposition of the drugs smugglers the country's airports and military radars," declared Basha.
He also declared that Xhafaj's first action as Minister of Interior should had been to arrest his brother Agron Xhafaj who was declared wanted by the Italian police on grounds of drugs smuggling.
