"Un Air de Paris" Arrives in Tirana

The 3rd night of "Musical Encounters Between the Two Worlds" arrives in Tirana, at the University of Art on 19 October 2017 with a special air from Paris with the Albanian soprano Blerta Zhegu, “a rising star” in Paris, together with the well known French pianist Frederic Isoletta.
Blerta Zhegu is born in Tirana, she started her musical studies in Tirana, accompanied by Nina Mula, to continue her training through several specialisations at the conservatories "Claudio Monteverdi" in Bolzano, Italy and "Darius Milhaud" in Aix en Provence, France.
Thereafter, Blerta has studied with Nathaniel Brodsky (a retired soloist having performed with the Chicago Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York). In addition, she participated in Master-classes involving many illustrious singers such as Renato Bruson, Leo Nucci, Luciana Serra, Monique Zanetti, Yvonne Minton, Sophie Koch, Jose van Dam, Enzo Tei, Ermonela Jaho, Inva Mula.
Blerta’s professional career began at the Bolzano Municipal Theatre with the role of Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti’s "The Telephone". During 2013-2014, Blerta was one of the CNIPAL (Centre National d'Artistes Lyriques in Marseille) artists. During this time, she performed in many concerts at the Opera of Marseille, Opera of Avignon and Domaine d’O in Montpellier. In France, she also performed in different concerts at the Auditorium Campra, Pavillon Vendome, and Hotel de Ville of Aix en Provence, Temple Grignan in Marseille and in Cathedrale St Croix des Armeniens in Paris for "Etoiles Albanaises" where she returned in April 2016 for her Recital Concert.
In July 2015, she was selected to participate at the International Academy of French Music, organised by the well-known conductor Michel Plasson, a program finalised by a concert in the Domaine du Regismont le Haut.
In June 2016 she took over the role of the Valeria, the protagonist o "Il canto dell'amore trionfante » of Paolo Coletta, in Pristina, Kosovo, a role that she had already performed at the occasion of the world premiere in the Theater Coccia of Novara two years earlier. During 2016 she also performed in several Recital Concerts in the Opera Grand d’Avignon, Hotel d'Olivary in Aix en Provence, Auditorium du Petit Palais in Paris, Auditorium de la Cite de la Musique. In 2017 she has already a busy agenda with the Festival Lyrique d’Aix en Provence, with the Solistes d’Avignon in Avignon, in the Festival of Colmar,directed by Vladimir Spivakov as a tribute to Michel Plasson and in 2018 she will be the creator and the protagonist of the creation "La traviata: Marguerite, Violetta et les autres..."
She is the winner of different prizes: 1st Prize in the Arskosova Competition Pristina Kosovo, Special Prize of the Jury in the VI Rassegna Concertistica of Montichiari, Italy and the 3d Prize of the Trofeo la Fenice; Competition of Seravezza, Italy.

Frédéric Isoletta graduated from the Conservatoires Nationaux de Régions de Grenoble et de Marseille. He won his first prizes (médailles d’Or) for orgue, improvisation and continuo, piano, accompaniment piano, composing (harmonies counterpoint fugue), chamber music etc. He performs at the most important festivals in France and Europe, as the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix en Provence and the Vanderbilt Academy.
“Un Air de Paris” will have a selected programme of the best arias from French composers will bring to the Albanian public : Air de Marie "La fille du régiment” G. Donizetti, Air de Anne Trulove "The rake’s progress" I. Stravinkij, Nocturne op.9 n2, A. Scriabin, "Je veux vivre "Roméo et Juliette" Ch. Gounod, Air de Manon "Manon" J. Massenet, "Jardins sur la pluie" C. Debussy, Nuit d’étoiles" C. Debussy, "Clair de lune" G. Fauré, "5 Mélodies grecques" M. Ravel.

The French-Albanian Association Argjiro in collaboration with the French Alliance of Tirana made possible this French night for the public in Tirana. The philosophy of French Alliance is to promote the French language and culture in Albania intertwined with the Argjiro goals on this 11 edition of the Festival “Musical Encounters Between the Two Worlds”, encounters that keep focusing on building bridges of culture toward Europe, and contributing to increase the cultural exchanges between Albania and Europe.
The concert is free for the public, this is a ten-year initiative of Argjiro in order to contribute to the promotion of classical music for a larger public.
