The Special Forces, part of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, will be engaged in a mission in Afghanistan. The decision was communicated by Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka during her visit to the Land Force Command in Zall Herr. While having lunch with officers of the Special Forces, Minister Xhaçka confirmed that Albania will continue to be represented in peace-keeping missions, by sending to Afghanistan a group of militaries of the elite battalion.
“Today, I would like to share with you an important decision. You, militaries of the Special Forces will be engaged in Afghanistan. We are negotiating with allies to determine the details of your engagement. But I am enthusiastic for this development. We have responded positively to the new strategy of President Trump for Afghanistan, to continue the substitution of insecurity with the security that our presence gives,” said Minister Xhaçka.
