The opposition's leader, Lulzim Basha addressed a direct request to Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday urging him to arrest the former-Minister of Interior Sajmir Tahiri.
"Why isn't Premier Edi Rama ordering the arrest of former Minister of Interior Sajmir Tahiri and his extradition to Italy on grounds of drugs trafficking? Albania's strategic partners have provided to Premier Rama incontestable materials related to Tahiri's role in the drugs trafficking from Albania to Italy. Meantime Rama refuses to play the chief of executive's role by appointing Tahiri as coordinator for co-governance. We are perfectly aware that the publication of facts related to Tahiri's involvement in drugs trafficking is only a matter of days," said Basha.
He also emphasized that PM Rama's hesitation to order Tahiri's arrest was no surprise for the opposition on view of the fact that drugs money were used for June 25 elections manipulation.
"I expect no answer by PM Rama because he protected Tahiri while knowing his ties with drugs trafficking. Albanians face two choices: to remain silent accepting the malign reality or stand up and defend their rights. Time has come for big decisions to be taken," stated Basha.
