Exhibition in Honor of Robert Elsie Opens in Tirana

The National Library opened a special exhibition, in honor of an inestimable Albanologist, Robert Elsie, who passed away on Sunday afternoon. The exhibition comes as homage to Elsie while bringing to the public part of the extraordinary contribution of the well-known researcher who did not spare the love for Albania in any moment.
"Robert Elsie, in addition to his precious contribution as an albanologist, scholar and translator, will be remembered with respect and gratitude by the Albanian public for his special attention and care for enriching the archives of the National Library of Albania with donations of works and articles from his numerous studies. They are currently part of a valuable fund in the field of Albanology and literature on Albanian literature and culture," informed the National Library.
Over 150 books and scientific articles, mainly in the field of Albanology, anthropology, translations from the Albanian folklore treasures, as well as translations of the authors of the Albanian letters, are preserved in the National Library fund. A significant contribution to the Albania's cultural heritage was given by Elsie through the translation of Gjergj Fishta's epic work "The Highland's Lute".
