A very important prehistoric settlement has been discovered in Maliq, part of Korça district. This discovery was the result of an archaeological expedition which worked for more than two weeks in the right side of Devoll River uncovering these ancient ruins.
The settlement architecture and the fragments of ceramic pots, tools and decorative objects discovered in this place give valuable information about the areas inhabitants in the prehistoric era.
“We discovered a suburban district of the Maliq prehistoric settlement. The vertical pillars planted deep on the ground, the floor and the huts are a clear testimony of its existence. Maliq has seen the presence of different settlement in many period of time, starting since the early neolith up the archaic era,” said the archeologist Adem Bonguri.
Maliq City Hall now plans to set up a museum in this place aiming to promote cultural tourism.
