The arrest of a former-police officer on Thursday in Tirana may unveil a scandal within State Police. Dritan Xhindoli was handcuffed on grounds of an arrest warrant issued by Interpol Tirana since 2014.

Albaniannews.com learned that the former-police officer had been condemned to 10 years in jail by Bologna’s Court in Italy for robbery documents forgery. His arrest warrant issued by the Italian authorities arrived in Albania since 2014 but was concealed by the police. Meantime the 39-years old Xhindoli held different positions within police ranks, even that of the Serious Crimes chief and Homicides Sector chief in Tirana police director. He resigned two days ahead of the arrest by the police.

The Interior Control Service (ICS) immediately opened an investigation aimed to discover the names of the officials that concealed the arrest warrant for Xhindoli.
