First Albanian Horror Movie Premiere in Tirana

The first Albanian horror movie ‘Bloodlands’ was presented for the first time in Tirana after the premiere in Glasgow. This movie, written and directed by Steven Kasstrissios, has been highly praised by the critics. The protagonist Suela Bako was awarded the “Best Actress Prize’ prize in Nashville Film Festival for her brilliant performance in this movie.

"Bloodlands" is realized in Albanian language and brings on the big screen actors like Gezim Rudi, Ilire Vinca, Suela Bako, Alesia Xhemalaj, Emiljano Palali, Dritan Arbana, Florist Bajgora, Enxhi Cuku.

The film tells the story of a woman who is raped, gets pregnant and is stigmatized by residents of her neighborhood. She goes to the mountain, where she turns into a true witch that gathers around her a group of people to whom just like her society has turned their backs on. Together with her group she decides to return and start revenge. Events take place on the outskirts of Albania's capital, Tirana.
