Apollonia, Favorite Tourist Destination

The Archeological Park of Apollonia was among the favorite tourist destinations this summer. A large number of domestic and foreign tourists visited the ancient ruins during these last months. According to the statistics over 14.000 tourists visited the park during summer, more than 6000 of which only in August.
The park’s director Marin Haxhimihali said that the recent restorations influenced positively in the tourists flux, adding that the museum’s section was the most visited area.
The re-opening of the portico with statues and the mosaic situated inside the museum raised big interest among the visitors.
Apollonia is situated 12 kilometers from Fier and is one of Albania’s largest antique cities mentioned since the ancient times. The Archaeological Park of Apollonia was proclaimed monument of culture on 1948.
