President of the Republic, Ilir Meta extended a message on Monday to the Holy Father, Pope Francis on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of Mother Teresa sanctification.
“Holy Father, on the occasion of the Mother Teresa of Calcutta sanctification first anniversary I have the special pleasure and privilege to express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the Albanian people for the worldwide glorification of the most significant spiritual symbol of our nation.
Taking advantage of this opportunity please allow me to reiterate my deep thanks for the uninterrupted attention that you continue to dedicate to the historical and traditional relations with Albania as well as the rare links of the Holy See with this country.
Mother Theresa proclamation as a Saint during the grandiose ceremony in the Vatican, the appointment of Father Ernest Troshani as Cardinal and the beatification of the 38 Martyrs of the Albanian Catholic Church marked some of the most significant events for Catholic believers and the entire Albanian nation last year, illustrating your special attention and special bond with the land of eagles.
I assure you Holy Father that Albanians all over the world rejoiced by the sanctification of Mother Theresa of Calcutta, feeling prouder than ever. This historic even forged even more institutional and spiritual connections between Albania and the Holy Seem,” wrote President Meta in his letter to Pope Francis.
In conclusion the President expressed to the Holy Father his highest consideration while wishing him a long and healthy life.
