Despite Christian Pannuci’s debut in the black and red bench and the importance of the three points against Lichtenstein, Albanian fans remain indifferent towards their presence in “Elbasan Arena”.
According to sales less than 500 tickets have been sold for Saturday’s match up, marking a negative record as per the number of fans supporting the team at home. “Apparently, someone has underestimated the importance of this match for the national. Meanwhile the team from a sportive perspective has had a maximal amount of preparation, even though it’s opposing a small team, the match is still worth 3 points”, expressed the marketing chief of FSHF, Gazmend Malo.
The massive fan boycott appears to have a connection to the protest led by “Red and Black Fans”. The group decided some time ago that it would not gather at home games anymore until its members are given their rights when treated by the police and the stadium’s organizers, just like in every other part of the world.
“We have said it many times before, since a year ago, we will not return to Albanian stadiums until the police with Kalashnikovs have left the stadiums and start treating us like human beings. In the meantime, we will continue to support the national team in every European stadium”, expressed through an announcement the “Red and Black Fans”. In the meantime, for Albania’s next match set in Macedonia on the 5th of September, the 450 tickets available to Albanian fans were all sold.
