The Albanian companies 'Catalyst' consortium that has been given the concession of Nation's Road will handle its management to a foreign company.

Sources informed albaniannews.com that the Italian company 'Highways for Italy' will manage the payment and maintenance service while the concession is owned by renowned Albanian companies Salillari and Kastrati.

The concessionaire will build, upgrade, operate and maintain the highway based on a set of predefined performance standards during the 30 year concession period of time. In return, it will collect and retain revenue from the tax, which for small vehicles is EUR 5, and then it will have the responsibility to implement and finance the upgrading of the highway, build a new bridge over the Drin River in Kukës and to implement the most urgent geotechnical stabilization works.

In addition to the taxes that will be paid by the citizens the state budget will pay the concessionary in the first 13 years at least EUR 65 million as a subsidy for missing traffic.
