Business, 18.000 Bankruptcies in 15 Months

Business in Albania seems to be experiencing a difficult situation, despite country's economic performance, which is experiencing the highest growth rate this year. The most recent data made public on Monday by the Taxes Offices General Directory indicates a worrisome increase of the bankrupted businesses.

Over 18.000 businesses ceased their activity since May 2016. The total number of passive businesses goes up to 109.999. According to the calculations at least 1200 businesses join each month the list of passive businesses register.

The Tax Office informs the public opinion that the passive businesses list publication aims to alert the third part not to involve in transactions with subjects that are part of this register.

Meantime over 10.000 new businesses started their activity during the first 7 months of 2017, the Tax Office reported. According to the experts a average of 1400 new businesses are opened each month in Albania.
