The fires situation escalation on Thursday forced the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ditmir Bushati to contact his Greek counterpart, Nikos Kotzias asking for logistic support.

Sources informed albaniannews.com that Greek authorities responded positively to this request. Two firefighting airplanes will depart from Corfu Island heading to Albania to help the firefighters to extinguish the fires.

The latest data on fires situation released on Thursday by the National Civil Emergencies Directory (NCED) indicated the presence of 25 blazes during the last 24 hours.

Some 114 firefighters supported by 15 firefighting vehicles and 130 Army’s troops battled for hours with the flames encouraged by the strong winds.

The NCE renews the appeal to the citizens to immediately report any sign of fire in the emergency or police numbers.
