Road Safety, 3000 Fines on Country Level

Some 3000 fines have been imposed on road traffic offenders during a large scale raid conducted by the State Police. The purpose of this raid that is being conducted on country level is to prevent accidents and punish the drivers that failed to observe the road’s code.

A total of 312 fines were imposed for failure to fasten the seatbelt, while 287 drivers were punished for using the mobile while behind the wheel. Some 137 fines were imposed for wrong overtaking and 65 fines for speeding offences.

Meantime 150 fines were imposed on motorcyclists for not wearing the helmet.

Some 29 drivers have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or without driving permission.

The State Police informs that this large scale raid is still ongoing while inviting the citizens to drive carefully observing the road rules.
