The technical Minister of Justice, Gazmend Bardhi invited on Saturday the Croatian authorities to reject Serbia’s request for Ismail Morina’s extradition. During a communication with his Croatian counterpart minister Bardhi argued that Morina’s extradition would be a violation of the civil rights.
According to him Serbia’s request violates the Council of Europe Convention for the extradition and the International Pact for the Civil and Political Rights. In his request to the Croatian authorities Minister Bardhi also declared that Morina would face risk of persecution or politically motivated discrimination due to his nationality.
Ismail Morina, the man who flew the drone on the “Partizan” stadium of Belgrade during the European qualifier between Serbia and Albania on October 14th 2014, which led to incidents and match interruption, has been detained by Croatian police for a couple of days. Morina was passing the Croatian-Montenegrin border when he was stopped by the Croatian authorities.
Dubrovnik Court of First Instance ruled in favor of his extradition to Serbia, a decision that generated an immediate reaction by the Albanian authorities.
